Adding airtime
There are a couple different ways to add airtime:
1. Purchase a Recharge Card at 7-11, Circle K, Vango, Express, etc. These come in various denominations to fit any budget. Credit is added instantly and you will receive a SMS confirmation message with your new balance.
2. On the Internet with your credit card. There are numerous independant retailers which will add airtime credit using a credit card. An official China Unicom partner is ezetop, their website is: http://www.ezetop.com/countries/asia/china/
Sample Airtime Cards
To add credit, follow these instructions:
• Purchase a China Mobile recharge card
• Scratch off the grey area to reveal your 18 digit topup code
• Dial 13800138000 from your handset
• Press 1 for change the language to English
• Press 1 to start the recharge process
• When asked, enter the 18-digit recharge topup PIN
• The system will confirm the airtime has been added
If you have any difficulties with this process, please call 14008200293 or 10086 and the customer service rep will add the airtime for you.
Airtime/Card Expiration Dates
When you add airtime to your account, you’ll receive a confirmation SMS message with the expiration date. In general, the larger the denomination, the longer the duration.
Your SIM card will be deactivated if the balance is close to zero and there is no activity for a couple months.

Internet Access
By default, GPRS / EDGE internet is activated. The pay-as-you-go rate is 2 yuan / day, which includes 5 MB traffic, each additional MB is 1 yuan.
Here’s a list of GPRS data plans and their prices:

To sign up, simply add enough credit to your SIM card to cover the subscription, then call customer service at10086 and let them know which rate plan you want.

Coverage and Roaming
Your China Mobile SIM card has coverage in virtually 100 percent of more developed areas. Unless you’re in extremely rural countryside, you’ll never have to worry about reception.
3G data is available in large cities (Beijing, Shanghai, etc.) and coverage is rapidly expanding elsewhere.
There are no roaming charges within China for mobile internet while using this card.
